Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Your adventure begins with a pick-up from Kigali International Airport or your hotel in Kigali by our professional driver-guide. After a short safari briefing, embark on a guided Kigali city tour, including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, one of Rwanda’s most important historical sites, where you will learn about the country’s history and remarkable journey of reconciliation.

After lunch, enjoy a scenic 2–3-hour drive through Rwanda’s picturesque countryside to Volcanoes National Park, nestled within the Virunga Mountains. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge, relax, and prepare for the following day’s unforgettable gorilla trekking experience.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, report to the Kinigi Park Headquarters for a briefing by park rangers before beginning your mountain gorilla trekking adventure. Accompanied by experienced guides, hike through the lush rainforest in search of one of the park’s habituated gorilla families. The trek may last between 2 and 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements.

Once you locate the gorillas, spend one unforgettable hour observing their daily behaviors, taking photographs, and experiencing one of the world’s greatest wildlife encounters.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch before crossing the Rwanda–Uganda border and continuing to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today offers another extraordinary opportunity to encounter mountain gorillas—this time in Uganda’s famous Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Following breakfast, attend a ranger briefing before entering the ancient rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek may take several hours as you navigate the forest’s rugged terrain, but the reward is an unforgettable one-hour encounter with these gentle giants in their natural habitat.

After the trek, return to your lodge and spend the remainder of the day relaxing while reflecting on your incredible primate experiences.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Afternoon Game Drive

After breakfast, depart Bwindi and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most popular savannah wildlife destination. The journey offers beautiful scenery, rolling hills, crater lakes, and local villages along the way.

Arrive in time for lunch before heading out on an afternoon game drive across the park’s vast plains. Look out for elephants, buffaloes, lions, Uganda kobs, warthogs, waterbucks, hyenas, and, if you’re lucky, the famous tree-climbing lions found in the Ishasha sector.

Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Morning Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Start the day with an early morning game drive through the Kasenyi Plains, one of the best wildlife viewing areas in the park. Early mornings offer excellent opportunities to spot lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, giant forest hogs, and numerous bird species.

After lunch, enjoy a relaxing boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. The cruise provides exceptional close-up views of hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and an impressive variety of water birds gathering along the shoreline.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kyambura Gorge and Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, transfer to Kyambura Gorge, often referred to as the “Valley of Apes.” Accompanied by experienced ranger guides, descend into the lush forest in search of habituated chimpanzees while also spotting black-and-white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, baboons, and colorful birdlife.

Following the trek, continue your scenic drive to Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest savannah national park, famous for its zebras, impalas, giraffes, and peaceful landscapes.

Upon arrival, check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Walking Safari in Lake Mburo National Park and Transfer to Entebbe
