Detailed Itinerary of 5 Days Rwanda Gorilla & Chimpanzee Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport or pick-up from your hotel in Kigali, you will be welcomed by your professional driver-guide and briefed about your safari. Begin a scenic drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park, passing through Rwanda’s rolling hills, picturesque villages, and lush tea plantations. The journey takes approximately 5–6 hours, with opportunities to admire the country’s breathtaking landscapes.
Upon arrival, check in to your lodge, relax, and enjoy dinner while preparing for the exciting adventures ahead.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & Nyungwe Canopy Walk
After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing before setting off on an exciting chimpanzee trekking adventure. Accompanied by experienced park rangers, hike through the ancient rainforest in search of habituated chimpanzees. Once located, spend one unforgettable hour observing these fascinating primates as they feed, play, and communicate in their natural habitat.
After lunch, head to the Uwinka Visitor Centre for the famous Nyungwe Canopy Walk. Suspended approximately 70 meters above the forest floor and stretching 160 meters across the canopy, the walkway offers spectacular views of the rainforest and opportunities to spot birds, monkeys, and other wildlife.
Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Enjoy breakfast before departing for Volcanoes National Park, located in Rwanda’s Northern Province. The scenic drive takes approximately 5–6 hours, passing beautiful countryside, tea plantations, and the rolling hills that have earned Rwanda the name “Land of a Thousand Hills.”
Upon arrival, check in to your lodge and spend the remainder of the day relaxing while enjoying magnificent views of the Virunga Volcanoes.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Following an early breakfast, transfer to the Kinigi Park Headquarters for a briefing by park rangers before beginning your unforgettable gorilla trekking experience.
Accompanied by experienced guides, trek through the bamboo forests and montane vegetation in search of one of the park’s habituated gorilla families. The trek may last between 2 and 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. Once found, you’ll spend one magical hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat.
After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing or enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

Day 5: Golden Monkey Trekking & Return to Kigali
After breakfast, return to the park headquarters for a briefing before setting off on an exciting golden monkey trekking adventure. These rare and energetic primates inhabit the bamboo forests of Volcanoes National Park and are renowned for their playful behavior and striking golden-orange fur.
After your trek, return to the lodge for lunch before checking out and beginning the scenic drive back to Kigali. Depending on your departure schedule, your driver-guide will transfer you to Kigali International Airport for your onward flight or to your hotel.
